Understanding Release Notes

These posts represent all major and minor changes, features, fixes, and updates made to the AmeriCommerce Software.

All posts are tagged with the major version that the update applies to. For example 2012.1 or 2012.2. The date is also representative of the version of that release.

To find out if an update applies to your site you will need to check whether the major version and date matches the version of your AmeriCommerce store. This is found in the footer of your admin in the format of 201Y.X.MDD.x

A version number is broken down into the year, major release, build date, and build number. For example 2012.2.508.1 would mean it is the 2012.2 major version released on May, 8 and is the first build of that day.

    Newsletter signup - Constant Contact

I currently use Constant Contact(CC) for newsletters to my customers and am trying to figure out the best way to configure this using Americommerce.

I have added the HTML code provided by CC to my webpage and it allows me to enter an email address but when I press GO the page just resets and the email is not registered on CC.  I am not sure if I just don't have something setup correctly or if there is else that I need to do.

Ideally, I would like to have a confirmed page that just lets the customer know it has been set up.  CC does generate an acceptance email as well.

Any help here would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Due to the nature of ASP.NET, you cannot add additional forms in the Custom HTML tag areas at this time.  We would like to implement a workaround for this.

In the mean time, you can use our mailing list signup snapin and export your mailing list as a spreadsheet via the Marketing menu in the admin console.  This can be uploaded into Constant Contact for mailing.

Re: Newsletter signup - Constant Contact

Hi. I just started using the AmeriCommerce cart & was wanting to use Constant Contact for a newsletter. Did you ever figure out how to do this? I am not at all web smart  : )   Are you happy with Constant Contact?  I cannot find if there is a place to do this in the AmeriCommerce cart.

    Thanks - Joy

Re: Newsletter signup - Constant Contact

We use Constant Contact and it integrates very well.  When you signup for your Constant Contact account you will have to initially export your opt-in users into your Constant Contact mailing list.  But, after that, new orders and new contacts are automatically synchronized.  From the Admin Console select Marketing > Mailing Lists > Select an Existing Mailing List : Select Constant Contact for List Type / Enter Constant Contact Username / Enter Constant Contact List ID... our integration has been working properly since December.

Re: Newsletter signup - Constant Contact

Is anyone using this with multiple Constant Contact lists? I am in the process of moving from Constant Contact to MailChimp - however, if this actually works with Constant Contact as described, I might not do that. Here's my question:

Does Americommerce REMOVE customers from various Constant Contact lists as well as add them? I have several different lists that people can sign up for. If a customer originally signed up for three of the lists, for example, and then on the next order changed his preferences to only two of the lists, will Americommerce update Constant Contact accordingly?

I really like MailChimp; however something like this would save me a LOT of time. (So would an integration with MailChimp!)

Thanks in advance for any experiences/details you can provide.

Re: Newsletter signup - Constant Contact

I have the same issue, multiple lists in Constant Contact. I've talked to Constant Contact about this as well, and from what I can tell, Constant Contact discourages this type of use, and in fact their standard setups don't allow it.  I think you may need to integrate an AP method to do this.

I have set up my other sites to use a modified version of Constant Contact's CCFSG script (you have to request the modified version from CC) and it allows list selection and even allows signing up for a 2nd list when already signed up for one of my other lists (their standard setup doesn't allow this).  I can't figure how to allow customers to unsubscribe from my site though - it seems like Constant Contact requires them to go to their site.  Anyway, I can't use this on Americommerce because I can't setup a custom form.

I'd be very interested in hearing what you might learn about mailchimp, and also anything else you learn about making Constant Contact work with Americommerce.

Re: Newsletter signup - Constant Contact

Have you tried using an iFrame?

We have an email signup from mailchimp, and the form wouldn't work until we called it in an iFrame.

If it needs to be custom you should be able to make a content page setup as "content only" then put in your custom form, and call that page's url through an iFrame wherever you want to put it on your site.
