Understanding Release Notes

These posts represent all major and minor changes, features, fixes, and updates made to the AmeriCommerce Software.

All posts are tagged with the major version that the update applies to. For example 2012.1 or 2012.2. The date is also representative of the version of that release.

To find out if an update applies to your site you will need to check whether the major version and date matches the version of your AmeriCommerce store. This is found in the footer of your admin in the format of 201Y.X.MDD.x

A version number is broken down into the year, major release, build date, and build number. For example 2012.2.508.1 would mean it is the 2012.2 major version released on May, 8 and is the first build of that day.

If you are interested in getting a feature applied to your site ahead of the routine update schedule please enter a support ticket.

    Free Shipping

My store offers absolutely free shipping to anywhere in the world regardless the purchase total amount.

We don't allow customers to select shipping method. We will choose an appropriate courier depending on destination.

Therefore we want to hide the shipping calculator from shopping cart as well.

What would be the easiest way to configure this?

In your theme go to the Basic Settings page for the Shopping Cart

Catalog Pages > Shopping Cart > Basic Settings

There is an option "Show Shipping Calculation" You just have to uncheck this.

There is also an option on the Store > StoreName > Store Settings page "Request Shipping Address on One Page Checkout:" that you could turn on or off. I would recommend leaving this on since you still may need separate billing and shipping addresses even if you aren't charging shipping.

    Re: Free Shipping

Might actually be good to let it show the shipping as FREE. Sometimes people worry shipping will be too high and back out, but if it shows 0.00 the whole time, people get excited for some reason. I don't know that is, but my conversion rate went up a little bit whenever I left it, and down when I removed it.

I was looking at this too. I wonder if we can edit the script just to inform the users that this is cost free.
