We're wanting to run a promotion that allows customers to ship with USPS First-Class Mail for a fixed rate, but have our other methods live rate. (Including all UPS and the USPS Priority Mail)

 For instance the shipping options the customer would see are:

• $1 Flat rate USPS First-Class Mail
• USPS Priority
• UPS ground
• UPS 3day

Is there a way to set up the flat rate for one method and keep live rates for the rest?

I asked about this a few years ago when I first signed on and was told they could not do it.  I agree with you though that it would be a good feature especially with the USPS flat rate boxes.  Many of our items are heavy in weight but low in price.  I know the shipping by weight chases the customer away from the cart.  If i had a flat rate just for USPS priority it would save some sales.

 

you should be able to create a custom shipping method called $1 flat rate, and assign it only to the items in which it applies. You can also make it rules based to not be applicable to items weighing more than X lbs, shipped to Y region, etc

You can run this in conjunction with calculated shipping. On some of my sites I offer free ground shipping on everything, however I still offer UPS regular (in case tehy specifically want UPS ground), as well as the expedited methods usign the above method
