Understanding Release Notes

These posts represent all major and minor changes, features, fixes, and updates made to the AmeriCommerce Software.

All posts are tagged with the major version that the update applies to. For example 2012.1 or 2012.2. The date is also representative of the version of that release.

To find out if an update applies to your site you will need to check whether the major version and date matches the version of your AmeriCommerce store. This is found in the footer of your admin in the format of 201Y.X.MDD.x

A version number is broken down into the year, major release, build date, and build number. For example 2012.2.508.1 would mean it is the 2012.2 major version released on May, 8 and is the first build of that day.

If you are interested in getting a feature applied to your site ahead of the routine update schedule please enter a support ticket.

    Affiliate Links with Discount

I am setting up affiliates and would like to offer a special discount for those customers coming from the affiliate sites.  So we can say "since you are a customer of XX Company, you get 10% off."  Is there a way to accomplish this with code in the affiliate link rather than requiring the customer to enter a coupon code?

Me too!  I'd love to embed a coupon code in a link to use in email marketing, plus I always give discounts for affiliate customers - it's a shame that they have to use the affiliate link AND enter the code in the store.  I suspect many of them bypass the affiliate link, which makes the affiliate program less successful for my affiliates!  If the discount was embedded in the link, the customer would always use the link and my affiliates would always get the credit!

Coupon codes are currently tracked as adcodes, the "a" querystring parameter.  If the URL contains both the "af" affiliate code and "a" for the coupon code you should be able to do this.

    Re: Affiliate Links with Discount

I tested several combinations of affiliate links with a coupon code added like you suggested but none of them added the coupon discount.  Maybe I did it wrong?  Here's an example of a link I used:

    www.mesasupplies.com/store/?af=affid&a=couponcode

    Re: Affiliate Links with Discount

I just figured out how to make this work and thought I'd post for anyone else searching for how to associate a discount with an affiliate link :

Create a discount method for an adcode that exactly matches the affiliate id.
