Understanding Release Notes

These posts represent all major and minor changes, features, fixes, and updates made to the AmeriCommerce Software.

All posts are tagged with the major version that the update applies to. For example 2012.1 or 2012.2. The date is also representative of the version of that release.

To find out if an update applies to your site you will need to check whether the major version and date matches the version of your AmeriCommerce store. This is found in the footer of your admin in the format of 201Y.X.MDD.x

A version number is broken down into the year, major release, build date, and build number. For example 2012.2.508.1 would mean it is the 2012.2 major version released on May, 8 and is the first build of that day.

If you are interested in getting a feature applied to your site ahead of the routine update schedule please enter a support ticket.

Importing and Formatting of Variations

    Importing and Formatting of Variations

    Hi,

Your import spreadsheet only provides the setup for 3 variation groups.  If I want to offer a product that has 6 different color options, are these all entered into variation group 1 which would be labeled "colors"?  Or do I repeat the variation group name of colors 3 times with a different color as the description in each one.  This is a bit confusing.

I just looked into the the Data Import Tools a little further and see that on the product import, there is no column for just the Variant or VariantName.  Do I have to do a variant import separately?  This would be quite cumbersome.

I have the same question and can't find the answer anywhere.  The descriptions of the import .csv seems to imply that there is a varient1group and a varient1 field, but there is only the group field.

    Any help is appreciated.

I figured out the answer to this but it's a difficult process.  You have to create an item for each variation where the variation group is the same, i.e. color, and the variation desc is the specific variant, ie red or blue.  When you import this it will create individual products for all of the variants.  On the original sheet go through and replace the ItemID on all those items with the number of the first one.  Then delete in the system the items whose numbers you replaced.  I found it useful to make another spread sheet that has the ItemID and Delete fields only and the delete field says TRUE all the way down. You can cut and paste the ItemIDs of the variants.  After all the variants have the same ItemID and the old products are erased you can import the original sheet and it will add those variants to the system under the same product.

Tech support told me I couldn't do this, it's a bit of a kludge but I've found it easier than using the variant import.
