Variant Inventory and "In Stock" "Back Order" Status

I am setting up my store and using variant inventory for colors and sizes in t-shirts with some items in stock and some back orders..

It asks for status, ie: in stock, back order, etc...., but when I publish my item, it shows all of it as IN STOCK, when certain sizes or colors are marked as backorder or out of stock. I'm sure once I get my store up and running and start forwarding my current customers there, that we will make sales, but I am worried I will be selling items that are out of stock and wont be printed for weeks. Do I have to list inventory items as seperate items for the different statuses to work properly, or is there some setting I can apply so certain sizes or colors show up as out of stock or give a back order option?

Product images

I used a PNG image of a product on my front page but am having difficulty loading the same image as the product image. Does the system not support PNG files as product images. I'm interested in the transparent backgrounds afforded by PNGs.

Documentation on Punchout/CXML?

Punchout/CXML integration is listed as a feature of the latest release. This is a major feature for selling to larger buyers.

Does anyone know of any documentation, starting with where to find it on the menu? I found nothing on the site search for either of the two main words listed.

ODBC - Details, Please

There is very little in the KB about ODBC, only one mention that I found, from 2007.

One of the Feature List pages says "Direct Data Connection via ODBC options are available"

The old post said at that time, this required a dedicated server, but research was underway to try to get around that requirement.

Is there any further information and pricing since then?

I plan to have a couple of feeds, maybe some imports, but will probably process them locally, and then want to be able to make pricing and availability adjustments via a familiar tool like Access.

Related items upsell

If you use the upsell free shipping in related items it states "Free Shipping when purchased with this item!". I would like it to say "No additional shipping when purchased with the above product!". This would eliminate any confusion since there would still be a shipping charge on the order. Just not an additional charge. I cannot seem to find this string in the store text area. Does anybody know how I can change this? Thanks, Mike

Change in Inventory Status

Newbie question: Should not a product's status automatically change to "Backorder" (or Out of Stock), when inventory is depleted? If I have inventory level set to zero, it still displays "in stock" -- how do I enable this to be automatic?

Creating Manufacturer Page Product Categories

Is it possible to dynamically group products on the manufacturer pages by category? Currently, if Manufacturer A has 100 widgets assigned to it, all 100 are displayed on the Manufacturer page with pagination. I would like to have the products grouped into sub-categories without having to manually assign the products. I'm looking for a merge code or another way to populate products and eliminate manual list maintenance.

Am I just missing it or is there no way to do quantity discounts by percentage? Doing it by exact dollar amount creates a lot more work every time there is a price change, so I prefer percentage - set it and forget it. Please tell me this is possible.

Add multiple to cart

I want to setup on my site a single page with several products and customers can pick and choose which one(s) they want (I will have about 10 products on this page which people can choose how ever many they want). What would be the best way to implement such a system so that once the products are chosen, the customer only has to hit the submit button and one or several products are sent to their shopping cart in the americommerce store?

Is there a simpler remote "Add to Cart" option for product variants?

Howdy - my store sells t-shirts (really), but using Wordpress as a front end, and AmeriCom's "add-to-cart" functionality to power cart and checkout.

So, if we sell a dozen shirts (and add new ones constantly), I'd like a way to create an Add To Cart template/options on the Wordpress side. The problem?

Let's say we sell 6 sizes of shirts (and those sizes stay constant). The product variant IDs (for Small, Medium, Large shirts) change for every shirt you "clone/create". There's no easy way to make code that says, for example, that the "Small" variant is ALWAYS variant ID 16, or variant type "Small", in the add-to-cart link. Is there a way around this, without using phantom products, or the API?

Item Surcharge based on category rules

I would like to find a way to add a per order surcharge if a customer orders from one particular category only.

We have some very low margin products that we offer as a convenience for customers that buy other products. However, we find that some people come and buy these items without purchasing anything else.

Ideally, what we would like to do is:

If customer orders from Category 1 and NOT Category 2: a fixed amount is added to the order.

If customer orders from Category 1 AND Category 2: no surcharge is added.

If customer orders from Category 1 AND ANY OTHER Category: a fixed amount is added to the order.

If anyone has an easy solution, they will get a FREE printer refill!

Getting Transactions Reporting Setup with Google Analytics

Hi,

We've been using Google Analytics (GA) for about a month and a half now. It works great and gives us access to a ton of useful data. The only problem is that we are not able to see Ecommerce transactions (order #, products, quantity, price, etc.). I turned on Ecommerce transaction reporting in GA, but we need to add some code to the checkout page. Google has the documentation to do so all nicely laid out in a very descriptive manner, but I have no clue how I would go about adding this. So I was wondering if anyone could at least point me in the right direction on how I would go about integrating e-commerce transaction tracking with Google Analytics.

Warehouse bin locations

Want to add the warehouse location to each product in the AmeriCommerce store. When the packing slip is printed, having the warehouse location for each item would help the pickers do a better job. Could have sworn AmeriCommerce already had a field for product bin location... can't seem to find it now. Any suggestions how I might implement my simple plan?

Manufacturer's Page

There really needs to be some sort of search or sort order that can be set on the Manufacturers Page. If I could click on the Name header and have them sort alphabetically it would be such a HUGE improvement over how it works now..... adding a search to it would be nice, but If I could even just get them in alphabetical order, I could find wha tI need without searching.

Setting up a wholesale log in and sign up page?

I have uploaded our previous resellers under new customers with their discount and log in password, however I am unable to find where I can add a page to the site that is a form for new interested resellers can sign up and submit to us?

I also would like to know how I set up the log in page for the current resellers that allow them to the wholesale pricing that I set earlier?

Difficulty importing Alternate Text info

I have loaded product data for a specific category and realized I had not given images Alternate Text information. So, I exported the product data for the category, added the Alternate Text info in the appropriate field for each product in the CSV file, and then imported the the new CSV file back into the category. I tried this three times, making certain I was importing properly but the changes just won't take.

I have successfully made other modifications in the same manner but for some reason I cannot get it to work for Altenate Text. Any suggestions?

Another way to force "Add To Cart" to go to Product Details Page?

I have products set up with a basic drop down menu Product Variant.

The items in this particular instance are for people looking to donate to our ministry. The drop down menu gives the donor multiple dollar amounts and it working great. But I need a way to force when clicking on the "add to cart" link to take the customer to the product description page rather than the cart page.

Is there another option besides using the grouping method to force the customer the product description page when clicking add to cart? An easy way. I don't want to have to mess with variant inventory or anything else to make this listing more complicated than it needs to be.

Discounts on multiple 'Items In Cart'

I'm working on a discount rule that would be applicable to only one of my stores, but would provide 25% off matched items. I'm using the "items in cart" option and "contains" for the rule.

I can't seem to find the right syntax for listing mulitple item numbers (4 in this case) in the "items in cart" choice. I've tried a 'space' between each, a comma, a semi-colon, but nothing seems to work such that 25% is taken off of any item in my list. Can't find mention of this in the knowledge base. Anybody know the secret?
