We have some shipping issues I haven't seen discussed here. I hope these aren't obvious questions. We don't actually carry most of the products we sell. We are a distributor for other companies. Therefore, we don't know how an order will be shipped. It might be from FedEx, UPS, etc. It might be from more than one warehouse. This causes us several problems. Here are a couple of them. 1.) We sometimes want some of the products in an order to use normal shipping rules but others within the same order to be subject to Custom Shipping Methods. For example, over $1000 from one company makes all shipping free for those items but any other items are charged normal shipping rates. How can we do this? If I enter $1000 worth from the one company all is well. As soon as I enter one more product from someone else the Custom Shipping Method is no longer present. 2.) We don't want to give the customer the choice of shipping method. We want to use the FedEx Ground estimate without using the phrase "FedEx Ground" then just present it to them as "Shipping Cost" (I know how to change the text.). Is there a way to simply remove the Shipping Estimation drop down boxes and just present the shipping total on the checkout page with the price, tax and total?

Thanks much.

Quick question. Has Americommerce done any integration for Endicia Postage Software? We use their premium bulk acceptance package and it would be awesome to simply upload the shipping file to my Americommerce admin to post tracking numbers for our orders. If it is not done, are you considering it? For marketing, it would be a huge selling point for any e-com doing above average volume.

They are wanting to offer products online, but in order to drop ship from the OEM to the customer, the customer must be within their sales territory. From what I have read, shipping can be restricted using Global Regions. Which leads to my questions. Is is possible to restrict shipping to specific states or zip codes? If so, is it possible for the customer to enter a zip code up front before filling a cart and then not being able to have it shipped? ..and is it possible to define Global Regions for microstores or only the storefront?

I am evaluating at the moment. Our company offers free shipping for all orders over £150, We deliver all goods ourselves so I dont want the option to select any shipping method at all. All I want to see is a £15 charge for shipping if order less then £150 and a £0 shipping charge for orders over that. So If a customer adds an item to cart that is £100 it will calculate a £15 charge but if they add another item of say £100 it will recalculate a zero charge for shipping.

I have managed to work out how to do free shipping but not the £15 charge for orders under £150 and I cannot get rid of the "Estimate your shipping costs:" part when customers view cart.

They will be using FedEx, and the shipping provider has already been set up. The "Markup" field in the Shipping Providers section seems to be the place to do this; however, if possible, the client would like the Handling Fee to appear independent of the Shipping Fee and on a separate line altogether.

So the Shipping Options would contain only the FedEx shipping charges, and then beneath it (or somewhere around it), a second line would display the handling charge added.

Is this doable with the system?

HELP!!!
If I set a custom shipping method, say "Flat $2.95 USPS parcel post shipping", how can I limit the custom rate to just UPS parcel post shipping?

There has to be a way to do this, because our competition is.

This should be much easier and is taking way to long.

Additionally, I'm still getting the error message...There was either a temporary problem connecting to the shipping provider's rate calculation service or the shipping is not provided to your area. We have been burned a few times by UPS drop kicking packages and losing them. We are thinking about mandatory insurance on packages over X dollars. This cost has to be passed along to the customer of course.

Part 1) When the info is being sent over to UPS to get the shipping cost quote is their a parameter to indicate we want the package insured? If so, then we could probably just add a setting to the system to do this for orders over X amount.

Part 2) When exporting the shipping data to be imported to UPS we need to also indicate we are insuring those same orders over X amount. We believe this is done by putting the value of the shipment in the "declared amount" column. This would have to happen in the export from americommerce and not in the mapping because we are only asking for it on orders over a certain amount.

Are both these steps a feasible reality?

cheers

Matt
