    Revolution Card

Anyone familiar with this new credit card, Revolution Card?  Merchant fees are only 0.5%. beats up MC, Visa, AMEX, and Discover pretty good. This product was put out by Steve Case, former AOL CEO. Buy.com is accepting it, it looks like it's an API type of payment gateway, but I am not sure. Given the fee per sale, I have a lot of interest in this.

    Re: Revolution Card

    Hi Louis,

It certainly looks good and it seems they are getting strong on promoting their product. If they continue - there is a good chance it will get very popular. They offer enhanced pin based security without embossing personal information on the card with options for temporary pins as well which would work for card holders and lower fees would work for merchants. It seems like Circuit City, Office Depot and many of the bigger stores are accepting them as well (not sure if they are accepting the card online as yet). The 0.5% would be sweet. I am interested in this as well.

    Re: Revolution Card

    Manjula,

Actually Buy.com has it. From the looks of it, they have Revolution Card as a credit card option on their drop down. I have to assume that it works like a MC, Visa, AMEX, Discover, etc. Difference being there is no card number just a pin. PayPal would be the closest thing. Google Checkout is also close, but Google Checkout requires it's own separate button, etc, it really doesn't work with a traditional shopping cart. Luckily I was able to do my Google Checkout integration very easily. I think that Americommerce has the most Google Checkout friendly system. I have a support request out for Revolution Card, in addition I also have a call out to them. I placed the call on the 18th, so I assume they are up to their butts in alligators, as far as requests go.

I will keep you posted on what I find out.

Thanks Louis. I think if the bigger name brands have taken it on - and with the right marketing it will get popular. The product itself seems superior in its safety features and ofcourse for us with their lower fees.

    Re: Revolution Card

We are going to have to take a look at this, I've been a proponent of pin based credit carding for years and utterly amazed that it isn't the standard already, I mean come on...so, if AmeriCommerce can reasonably support it, we will invest in the future of any more secure payment method.  We will take a look.  Yes my wallet was just stolen and abused, so maybe I'm bitter!  But hey if everyone gets a cool feature out of it, then who says bitterness doesn't get you anywhere?!

    Re: Revolution Card

The only problem so far is trying to get a reply call from these folks. I have left 3 messages and no return calls, as of today 6/24. Maybe someone at Americommerce may have better luck with this! Go for it, ESturrock.

    Re: Revolution Card

I have made an attempt to contact their development department by email and we will see what comes of it.  They will likely send communication specs over and we can evaluate the difficulty and reliability of their services.

Sorry you had your wallet stolen and abused. It's hard to not be bitter. But if you can pull some good out of it....hats off to you!

Just an update on this. So far, ZIP from Revolution Card. I guess they are either too busy, or not interested. I will re-update again when something happens!
