HELP!!! I have to get this figured out.

Still can't get this custom shipping method set up.  Our competition (www.adagio.com) is offering a flat rate ground shipping.

If I set a custom shipping method, say "Flat $2.95 USPS parcel post shipping", how can I limit the custom rate to just UPS parcel post shipping?

There has to be a way to do this, because our competition is.

This should be much easier and is taking way to long.

Additionally, I'm still getting the error message...There was either a temporary problem connecting to the shipping provider's rate calculation service or the shipping is not provided to your area. Please refresh this page to try again or contact us for shipping availabiliy.   when I try and calculate shipping on our website (www.infuzions.com).

That error message shows when no rates are available based on your settings.

The following question is a little unclear, perhaps the concept of custom shipping is being missed:

If I set a custom shipping method, say "Flat $2.95 USPS parcel post shipping", how can I limit the custom rate to just UPS parcel post shipping?

You wouldn't limit a custom rate to apply to a specific provider, it would be a rate unto itself.  You can name it whatever you want, but it isn't tied to UPS or USPS or anyone else, it is a custom rate.

I checked your settings, the rate you are working on is not enabled.  There is a checkbox on the next to the Rate Name where you can set the rate to Active.  This needs to be set before the rate will display, and is probably why you are receiving the error message.

Re: HELP!!! I have to get this figured out.

Stephan...thank you, but I had it active working on it last night and un-checked it before I ended my session, because I was getting the error message.

Perhaps your software is not intended for the non-programmer.  I have tried to make this issue as clear and concise as possible.

Intent:  Set up a flat rate shipping rate of $2.95 as a standard rate and $ 7.50 for UPS Ground, without having to eliminate all the other shipping provider methods I had originally set up.  In other words, the customer could select our standard flat rate (for USPS First Class shipping) or our UPS Ground rate, or they could select any of the other shipping methods originally provided.

Problem:  It would appear that this is accomploshed in one of two areas; 1) Discount method - here I can signify the shipping method, ut not the set pricing, 2) Custom Method - here I cannot specify the shipping method.

What I really need is that if the customer selects USPS First-Class, they are charged $2.95.  If they select UPS Ground, they are charged $ 7.50.  Otherwise, they can select any of the available shipping methods and it will calculate the rate as usual.

So you will know, I have de-activated all shipping methods other than USPS First-Class to try to get the $2.95 shipping to work.  To me, this is crazy and it should be much easier.  I have spoken with 2 other users and they were also unable to figure this out.  I have been working on this for days and need to get it operational.

Re: HELP!!! I have to get this figured out.

Brian, we have hundreds of non-programmers using the system, but sometimes the smallest things can prove elusive.

The custom rate is not matching because you specified "Dollars" for the second criteria selection type but left the criteria blank.  Basically you are saying if the cart is between $1 and $49 and $0 and $0 dollars, apply the rule.  Blank would be interpreted as "0" by the math system.  I made a duplicate "test" method and left that dropdown to "[none]" rather than "dollars" and it works as expected.

I've checked your settings and you aren't getting any rates from USPS or FedEx because the account information is not being recognized:

FedEx: AccountNumber must contain exactly 9 digits.

USPS: 80040b1a Authorization failure. Perhaps username and/or password is incorrect.

Thanks!  Unfortunately this method makes no sense to me, or the other users I have spoken with.  None of us can figure this out. I am still not sure how to proceed.  Is it possible to speak with someone to walk me through one?

I have no idea why suddenly my account information is not recognized.  Nothing has changed...username or password.

I believe you understand the concept of the custom shipping methods, you just had selected a "dollar" setting for the second range without supplying any values for the range.  I just cleared the "dollar" setting and it worked as intended.  If you have any additional configuration examples I'd be happy to give you some pointers.

As for the shipping providers (UPS, USPS, etc), the logins you have on the Shipping Providers form all have your company name in them and they are all set to the same value, so they are not random, they must have been intentionally set.  All of the providers give you unique logins when you sign up for their services.  If in doubt, check the links at the top of the Provider page that take you to FedEx, USPS, and UPS to fill out the forms if you haven't already.  If you have already done this, then check the login information you were given by these companies against what you have put on the Shipping Providers page.  You can click the Test button next to each one to verify your account information to see if it is correct.

Re: HELP!!! I have to get this figured out.

    Hello,

I am having the same issue with flat rate shipping. All I want is my customers to be able to choose between 2 custom shipping methods I made. Ground and 2nd Day. Ground is Free and 2nd day is $15.00. I have the rules active but they dont display anywhere on the website. (on the product page, shopping cart, checkout, etc) Here is my rule for Ground

If purchase is between 1 and 10000 dollars and between and   shipping charge is 0.0000 dollars plus 0.0000 dollars to United States Region from every Warehouse for Customer Type of all types.
