Free Shipping Text on Product Page

Does anyone know of a way to display "Free Shipping" on the Product Page automatically?

I think there is now (or soon coming) a merge code that will allow you to display icons based on attributes. If you made free shipping an attribute, it could be used this way (thats one of the ways I will use it)

That is a nice and creative use of the feature!  Yes that merge is in beta testing now, and will soon be released.  It's format will be something like

    ##IF[ATTRIBUTE=FreeShipping]##
         Free Shipping!!
    ##ENDIF##

And this can be placed on the product page in the header, footer, or using custom layout, or even in any product description field.  It's probably better on the theme since that is globally applied though so you dont have to put it on each product.

Not specifically, the best way is to open a ticket saying you want this feature, and have them set it to pending alpha release or pending beta release.

Re: Free Shipping Text on Product Page

Will it be using the ##If[Attribute=Free Shipping]##, or the actual attribute #?

Re: Free Shipping Text on Product Page

When released, it will be like you typed, there will likely also be an ##IF[AttributeID=25]## option as well, we usually do both.  There has been talk of having to use the group name too, since you could have multiple attributes with the same name but in different groups so it would be something similar to ##IF[Attribute=Color|Red]## or something like that.  They are working through that now and I can give more information soon.

Why not just add a checkbox where the product weights are entered or on under the general tab? Then the Free Shipping can be displayed by the Buy Me Button where it should be to make the most impact?

Re: Free Shipping Text on Product Page

Definitely a good solution.. would need to have a Free Shipping (true.false) put into the import as well, and this would need to override all other shipping drivers associated with the product- it owuld alsolikely have to be tied to a particualr shipment method.

ie- its free via UPS ground, but if a user needs it faster we owuld like to offer expedited shipping at a cost to the buyer.... starts to get pertty complicated if it does anythign more than display a free shipping message/icon

Re: Free Shipping Text on Product Page

The Free Shipping checkbox should also be part of the Mass Product Editor. I think that the Mass Product Editor for Americommerce is grossly under used. That mass editor could have other fields such as descriptions, images, as well as variants. It could save a lot of time when updating products, and even adding new products.

Another great option would be if one could create variant groups, such as say Color Choice, and under that add all the color choices, then instead of manually adding each variant on each product, one could just assign the Color Choice group as that products custom variants, this too could be part of the mass product editor, appearing as a drop down.
